Charitable Acts of Kindness for our Community!
In a time where personal volunteering around the holidays is limited, we have put together a list of local charities that truly could use our help this season. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
A VIDEO TO BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY!
The Bristol
This year especially might be a lonely time for older community members living at The Bristol. We are creating a community Video to send over to them to watch for the holidays. Please record a quick video saying "Happy Thanksgiving" or "Our wish for you is..." - It doesn't take more than a minute or two and will make our friends at The Bristol really happy! Due by Monday, Nov 23rd.
A BAG OF GRATITUDE
Hillside Food
In our own backyard we have people who need our help this holiday. Due to the climate of our time from hardship of Covid and economic loss people in our own community will spend Thanksgiving alone and hungry. This is an opportunity to be creative with what things you are grateful for over the holidays. Then how that could translate into items that fit into a bag that will be presented to someone in need in our community around Thanksgiving. The bags will be distributed to those confined to their home and unable to get food from food pantries.
Get your family involved and have everyone add something special or perhaps your child would like to take on this project for himself...Or perhaps, you each want to make a bag...
You’ll bring joy to someone who will be spending Thanksgiving alone. Apparently, they are so overwhelmed with new calls from trackers who let them know those who are in their homes without food.
Your bag can be simply a brown grocery bag or get as creative as you’d like. Think of things that bring you joy.
Examples of items to put in (along with a letter, a drawing, a poem, or anything else!):
Healthy canned food- vegetables, beans, soup
Boxed starches example rice, couscous, potato, oatmeal
Cereal, Boxed dairy, Olive oil, Spices, Cookies, Pumpkin something, Chips, Dips, Pasta, Pasta sauce, Ramen, Clementines/apples
Home goods: Tissue, Toilet paper, Hand sanitizer, Mask, Toothpaste, Toiletries, Soap
Warm Clothing: Socks, Gloves, Hat, Scarf, Slippers, Throw blanket, Candle
When bags are done, email Antoinette Wysocki-Sanchez anwysocki@aol.com for pickup/delivery information.
FEEDING WESTCHESTER
